Alabama Blueberry Festival, Brewton, AL

June 17, 2017

Jennings Park, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Michigan and Maine don’t have a monopoly on blueberries! Brewton pays homage to the great bleuet at the 37th annual event featuring live entertainment, classic cars, blueberry-infused food, a 5K or 10K run, and fun for the whole family.

Chilton County Peach Festival

June 17-June 24, 2017

Didn’t eat your fill of blueberries? Head on over to the Chilton County Peach Festival. Celebrate the seductive peach with pageantry and pomp. Burn off some cobbler by participating in the peach run, then swing by the art fair, or take part in the annual cook-off, fishing tournament.

Athens Kiddie Carnival — Athens, AL

Thursday-Saturday, June 29-August 5, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Rocket City Mom knows where it’s at! If your little ones love a thrill but haven’t quite hit the height mark, then the Athens Kiddie Carnival, sponsored by the local Lion’s Club, is the place to be. At just 50¢ a ride, this old-school charity event needs to become a weekly tradition.

Sloss Music and Arts Festival — Birmingham, AL

July 17-18, 2017

With a lineup featuring the Alabama Shakes, Widespread Panic, Sturgill Simpson, Run the Jewels, and Lillie Mae, this is a can’t-miss celebration of the best that alt-hip-hop, rock, indie rock, Americana, and folk have to offer. Over the course of two music-packed days, more than thirty bands will take the Sloss stage.

W.C. Handy Music Festival — Florence, AL

July 21-30, 2017

The Shoals is hopping with this week-long celebration honoring “Father of the Blues” and Florence native, W.C. Handy. More than 200 events will occur throughout Florence, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, and Muscle Shoals.

Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-Off — Hartselle, AL

July 28-29, 2017

Put some meat on your bones at the annual Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-Off. Last year’s event was the biggest ever, let’s set a new record in 2017, folks! This free event highlights both professional and backyard BBQ aficionados from across the United States. The Cotton Pickin’ BBQ is sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Association.

Alabama Women in Jazz Festival — Madison, AL

August 5, 2017

The 3rd annual Alabama Women in Jazz Festival spotlights the legendary Freda Payne who will be belting out some her hits like “Band of Gold” and “Bring the Boys Home” as well as standards from jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.

Alabama Restaurant Week — Statewide

August 11-20, 2017

Franklin County Watermelon Festival

August 18-19, 2017

Started in 1981, the Franklin County Watermelon Festival has become the biggest event in the county with non-stop music, thrilling tournaments, a stunning pageant, fabulous kids arts & crafts, fun runs, as well as car, truck, and tractor shows. Free watermelon included, seed-spitting encouraged!

Okra Festival, Lowndesboro, AL
